I have not posted an anime article in ages.
But Puckman has pointed out an anime that he thinks is “one of the best he has seen”, so I had to check it out.
My first impressions, I have only seen the first two eps, both subbed, are very positive.
It is based in a pseudo-utopic future. It has some comparisons with Bregna in Aeon Flux or the consumerist society in Aldous Huxleys “brave new world”.
Although on the surface it seems like a utopia, it is an oppresive control state, where the lives of its ‘citizens’ are of little consequence to the elite authority, based upon the principal of consumption.
The protaganists are a female investigator, Real, who has seemingly stumbled upon a conspiracy by the elites, one of which is her own Grandfather, and the Head of the Intelligence Division, who is the semi-witting tool of the elites in the cover-up of the conspiracy.
So far Real has worked out she is being watched and that the elites cannot be trusted and that they are trying hard to cover up what she has stumbled upon, even though she has little understanding of what it is.
The Head of the Intelligence has just, in ep 2, impassively watched his own wife and adopted child slaughtered at the hands of the creature released by the elites as part of their conspiracy.
It will be interesting to see how it pans out.
It is one-to-watch.
